Abstract

Iconography of Fools-for-Christ can be traced with the help of references in hagiographic literature and original icons. It was from those sources that icon painters learned about the appearance of these saints. The article presents some rare hagiographic manuscripts containing descriptions of Fools-for-Christ. In addition, it briefly comments on the image-artistic characteristics of the Fools-for- Christ based on original icons.
