Prof. at the Department of Humanities and Social SciencesMIREA – Russian Technological University, Moscow, Russia, e-mail: svjatoslav11@bk.ru, ORCID: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1204-0125 AbstractD.A. Popov’s study represents a daring effort to examine the preparations and motivations of the parties involved, the progression of military actions, the original objectives, and the outcomes of the so-called “Karelian adventure” initiated by Finnish activists and Karelian separatists in 1921–1922. Despite certain conceptual shortcomings and logical discrepancies, the author has generally succeeded in reconstructing this episode of the military-political and diplomatic confrontation between Finland and Soviet Russia over Karelia, relying on lots of archival and published sources.KeywordsKarelian adventure, “Pork Mutiny”, Toivo Antikainen, Finnish activism, League of Nations, history of FinlandReferences1.
