His research on Russian culture (“Russian Music in the Context of Russian Culture”) and the history of the Soviet Union (“Introduction to the USSR”) are fundamental. In his memoirs From the Cincinnati Reds to the Moscow Reds, Weil recalls Chukovsky, Brodsky, Yevtushenko, Pasternak, Shostakovich and many other grand figures of Russian culture. What is more, the memoirs describe the intellectual atmosphere in the Soviet Union.KeywordsI.
