The generative model of utterance production proposed by N. Chomsky allows us to analyse texts of media discourse at different levels, including both deep and surface structures. This study focuses on two key terms: creative language use and precedent text. The former stands for any creative processes of language production by media discourse participants, usually expressed by surface structures, such as memes, demotivators, speech situations, creolized texts, etc.; in the model of linguistic personality this is the verbal-semantic level. When it comes to precedent texts, we deal with the formation of deep structures (at the cognitive-pragmatic level), whose main characteristics are significance, popularity and renewability. Using statistical analysis tools (Google and Yandex services) the author performed a sample analysis of political precedent texts and their reception. The research revealed that user activity in the form of search queries correlates in time with online utterance production based on one and the same precedent utterance. This pattern is illustrated by tables and graphs, which clearly demonstrate the life cycle of the process of creative language use. For the analysis of surface structures, the author selected visual and verbal elements from the following categories: creolized texts, memes, demotivators and speech situations. The results of the research have confirmed the above hypotheses and can serve as a basis for further studies into the nature of the processes of creative language use in social media.Keywordscreative language use, media environment, language production, generative model, precedent textReferences1.
