Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) e-mail: l.gerasimova@narfu.ru AbstractIn recent years, one of the most important forms of monitoring the quality of training of university students has been the Federal Online Exam for Vocational Education in various subjects. Its results are extremely important for a comprehensive monitoring of specialties; it is also one of the main quality indicators used in certification of specialties and accreditation of the university as a whole. Moreover, when performing online exam tasks students have to demonstrate knowledge of all the didactic units, as after the test is done the number of correct answers is calculated in both absolute and percentage terms, as well as the number of mastered didactic units. The one- or two-semester course in chemistry is taught for 30 bachelor’s programmes in 6 institutes of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (NArFU). This article analyses the results of testing NArFU students in general chemistry and considers the role of independent work of students in preparing for the online exam. Online exam is a mass testing technology, in which a large amount of various test materials are prepared automatically. This type of examination ensures that students have no prior access to the tasks. Using online exams in education encourages teachers to improve the teaching process and promotes a more responsible attitude towards independent work among students.Keywordsfederal online exam, online testing, quality control, work programme, state standardReferences
