Abstract

The general concept of political history has not been thoroughly developed in academic works despite the fact that it is an important area of research, an independent field of knowledge. This article aimed to identify the object and subject of political history, its practical use for the study of the current political situation in Russia. In addition, this paper singles out the political aspect of the study of regional politics, which allows us to extend our knowledge in the field of history. The theoretical significance of this work lies in the fact that its ideas make a contribution to the relevant branches of history and political science. In practice, we can apply the historical experience of the regions to the political life of the country. As the methodological and theoretical basis, the author used the multifactorial positivist approach to studying political history. It includes both general scientific methods and methods of historical and political studies. This allows us to explain the facts and reveal the essence of various phenomena at both the federal and regional levels. The object of study of political history is the political activity of the subjects of political life and the political thought. Political life is a sum of forms of life of the population. Spiritual and practical ways of life show the attitude of the society to politics and their participation in it. Political life is based on the struggle of individuals and social communities for their ideals. Various forms of interaction between the subjects and objects of politics have to do with the race for power, as well as with development, evaluation, approval and implementation of decisions by public authorities. Analysis of the current political situation in Russia helps avoid the same mistakes made in the country’s history.
