Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) AbstractContemporary political thought is highly sensitive to normative issues. In this regard, the revival of practical philosophy, which had been in decay due to the emergence of positive social sciences, is being widely discussed by the academic community. Combining issues of politics, ethics and communication has become a common way of thinking. At the same time, reasons for such combination as well as consequences arising from it have not been clarified enough. The author highlights the division between ontic and ontological dimensions and focuses not on certain conventional practices but on those criteria according to which phenomena and processes are attributed a political status. This paper outlines several ways of conceptualizing politics; each of them has its own ethical horizon. Just as Paul Ricoeur, the author believes that discussions about the connection between politics and ethics can serve as an anthropological introduction and allow us to get down to the subject of politics. The subject of politics becomes a middle link between politics, ethics and communication because ethical self-identification is impossible without a desire to coexist. From the standpoint of Ricoeur’s deontology, such moral phenomena as sense of duty and responsibility are of responsive nature. The essential bond between the deontological character of political power and communicative nature of politics, described by Paul Ricoeur from phenomenological-hermeneutic point of view, sets the theoretical framework of this article.
