Elective courses, in their turn, act as a tool to perform the new tasks set up on the school. This paper dwells on the types of elective courses and some important issues of teaching them. Further, we cover the tasks and functions of elective courses prior to and during specialized training. Due to the fact that pupils are supposed to work much by themselves, special attention is paid to the forms of such work. It should be noted that this requires special expertise and self-organization skills from the teacher. We suggest using one of the new forms of pupils’ work – fliped learning – which is particularly efficient at elective courses.
