Abstract

The practice of dealing with industrial and man-made accidents indicates that this type of emergency situations usually causes heavy casualties and material losses. One of the main dangers to the anthropogenic security of the Russian territory and population is breaching legal regulations governing the work on potentially hazardous sites. Anthropogenic security is also threatened by extremist and terrorist organizations. The growing risk of industrial accidents and disasters in Russia is caused by insufficient legal support for anthropogenic security and lacking legal mechanisms aimed to prevent and eliminate such emergency situations. Weak state control and monitoring of anthropogenic security in high-tech spheres of the economy and defence is another contributing factor.
