Abstract

The evolution of the «unnecessary person» type in the Russian literature of the second half of the
19th century is examined in the article on the basis of the novels by I.A. Goncharov. Oblomov and Raisky
are compared with the characters of works by A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, I. Turgenev, and A. Chekhov.
