Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) AbstractThe paper looks at corruption through the prism of alienation as these social problems have been a burning issue over a long period of society’s development. Moreover, the problems under consideration are not confined to academic research – these are phenomena of everyday life concerning everyone. As we know, one of the major tasks of philosophy is trying to understand the world’s developments as well as analyzing and openly discussing concrete issues. Thus, we can say that the study of corruption should not be just theoretical, but also have practical significance in order to identify the causes of corruption and ways to eliminate it. Keeping this in mind, the author reveals the genealogy of corruption and analyzes its causes and peculiarities at the present stage of society’s development. The paper deals with such social forms of alienation as economic, political, and spiritual ones. Based on this analysis, the author concludes that the underlying reason for corruption in contemporary Russian society is general alienation. The author believes that the main source of corruption in the society is alienation of activity.Keywordscorruption, alienated character of labour, economic alienation, social alienation, political alienation, spiritual alienation of a personReferences
