The aim of the study was to determine the place and role of the Swedish Democrats nationalist party in this process. The author identifies four key stages in the history of the party and two principal conditions for its success in the 2010 parliamentary election. Moreover, the author characterizes four main elements of the party’s ideology and directions of its development. The intensity of cooperation between the Swedish Democrats and other twin parliamentary parties in Europe has also been analyzed. The author determines key aspects of the Swedish political system transformation during the period under study and makes predictions for the nearest future.
