Abstract

The article describes the population of the regional centres of the European North of Soviet Russia (Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Vologda and Petrozavodsk) in the 1920s. It covers the issues of age and sex structure, ethnicity and religion. The author applies the method of prosopography to create a collective portrait of a city dweller in the 1920s.
