Abstract

The author examines a book by a foreign correspondent Frederick Arthur Mackenzie entitled Russia before Dawn, written after he had travelled to Soviet Russia in the early 1920s. The book for the most part conveys optimistic impressions of the foreign observer about the first transformations of the “new economic policyˮ.
