Abstract

Review of the multi-author monograph: Frantsiya i Rossiya: vek XVII [France and Russia: The 17th Century]. Nizhny Novgorod, 2016. 340 p.

The four parts of the monograph – “History, Economics, and Politics of France and Russia in the 17th Century”, “Facets of Culture of the 17th Century”, “Music and Theatre of the 17th Century”, and “A Comparative Dialogue with the 17th Century” – analyse the century that had sealed the fate of the development of Europe. Careful attention is given to the issues of diplomacy, religion and cultural contacts in the spheres of literature, theatre and music. The monograph unites researchers from various disciplines and is intended for both experts and anyone taking interest in the 17th century.
