Abstract

The article describes the reasons for actualization of the indigenous peoples issue in domestic and foreign science, reveals the etymological roots and essence of the concepts of “native inhabitant” and “indigenous population”. Further, in historical dynamics it presents the content characteristics of the definitions of “indigenous peoples”, “indigenous minorities” and “tribal and semi-tribal indigenous peoples”.
