Abstract

The Russian Civil War was a landmark event in both Russian and world history. The approaching 100th anniversary of these events has awakened researchers’ interest in this subject. The review describes the recently published books by British historian J.D. Smele. He considers those events to be a series of civil wars and suggests their new periodization covering the period from 1916 to 1926.
